Inclusive education access (2025)

In 2025, UWEZO strengthened educational inclusion through partnerships that enabled the identification, assessment, and re-enrolment of out-of-school children with disabilities. This work reinforced local systems for early identification, transition support, and sustainable retention of learners with disabilities.

What UWEZO delivered

  • Functional assessments and individualized support planning with schools
  • Referrals to appropriate educational and therapeutic services
  • Caregiver engagement to strengthen home-based learning support
  • Follow-up to support retention and participation

What this reached in 2025

  • 1,386 children with disabilities supported (581 girls, 805 boys)
  • 159 schools engaged in disability-responsive practices
  • 62 youth mentors with disabilities deployed as peer educators and support agents
